Title: How long can you keep eggs before going in incubator

I have 1 white silkie hen and cockeral together,at the moment she is laying 1 egg every other day,want to put some in the incubator how long can i keep them as would like to collect 6 if poss or would that be to long.

I personally only use them at 7 days old but i believe you can use them from 10 days, you would at least get 5 in.

best bet iff you wont some good silkies get six off youres and bye 6 that would make a good hatch

I wanted to fill my incubator but had 2 broodies that weren't laying. The oldest egg was 10 days old that went in. Out of 16, 11 were fertile and 9 hatched. the oldest egg hatched too (I'd written the date they were laid on them)  :)

We once watched a pheasant come and lay an egg every day for more than a fortnight, then disappeared and came back a few days later and sat on them.  I think 11 of them hatched.  It was at the bottom of our garden, dogs running around at various times of the day and us coming and going too.
