1) back to work after a weeks holiday :(
2) couldn't sleep, then up at 6am 8)
3) paniced because the pregnant goat looked too thin, but couldn't see any kid.... result - goat poo on my work shoes, quick change (goat just hungry!) :o
4) endless confusions at work, changes, more changes then changes back! ???
5) afternoon spent walking the country hills trying to locate missing persons :dunce:
6) ALL 3 pigs escaped - phone call from husband (I had no car, hour & 1/2s walk home not that they'd let me leave work - what can I do?!) :-\
7) Pigs eventually returned to pen, well done husband. Boar rooted under the wire & wood, letting his lady friends out then following. last time, just one got out and she went through the front gates that were damaged and went next door! today they stayed on our property & fortunately didn't do much damage :)
8) walked home (see 6)
9) quick change and evening spent reinforcing the pig run while they had sex!!
10) now having a rest before doing the feeding & shutting-in rounds
;D

Wow that is a day and a half. I hope the love birds are now secure! My day started with a flat battery, then ran relatively well until I picked Harry up from school. He had big scratch marks on his neck from where he had a run in with you know who. Apparently they had been at each others throats all day. After we got home Harry told my he had a runny tummy, so I asked him if he told his teachers and he said "No they were too busy!" So no work tomorrow as Harry will have to be off school and I'm already a bit behind because of Half-Term, but hey ho....
Hope tomorrow runs more smoothly for you and a 2nd car/scooter/bike miraculously appears on you driveway!
-
if Im honest... the car is available, I just choose not to use it!
its a pain to park, easy to get a lift in, and quite often easy to get a lift home.
I like the walk... but had already done several miles this afternoon!! a scooter or a pony would be my choice, though J doesn't agree!
love to H, hope he's soon ok and you dont have the dreaded lurgy to contend with.

Oh Ruth, I have days like that too!!
I would have thought the pigs would have been too tired to have sex after running round the garden. Do you know, Rick always rings me if any of the animals escapes. Do they think we can just run out of work, to capture runaway animals?!!
Glad the pigs did not go next door.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Hope your day went better today Ruth. My went like this - woke up to Harry screaming in pain, unable to walk. Had to dress him and carry him, screaming, to the car to take Oliver to school (Harry was off due to bad tummy yesterday). Driving through the lashing rain to school the driver windscreen decided to die, Harry still screaming. Oliver wouldn't walk into school on his own, so left Harry screaming in Landy to take Oliver in. Fixed wiper. Took Harry to Justine who dosed him up and told us to go to A&E. Parked at the wrong carpark and had to carry a screaming Harry what felt like 1 mile. Had xrays, all fine. Doctors think the virus that gave him the runs inflamed his hip joint. Got back just in time to collect Oliver from school with Harry no longer screaming, but hobbling.
What will tomorrow bring?

oh, bless him. poor, poor Harry... and you :(
give him our love (again!) and hope he gets better soon.
my day ok, seemed soooooooo long! think its the constant rain we've had - all the hills & Valleys around work totally disappear when its raining or foggy, so it looks & feel totally isolated, like a single building in all existence!
its been fine since about 4:30, so since Ive been home I've...
carried 6 x 20kg sacks of feed
moved a load of pallets
cleaned out the goat shed, in case Geraldine decides to kid early, she's acting very "expectant" today!
cleaned all the feed buckets
fed everybody
been to the shop for chocalate (my tea!)
found a pig out in the garden! wasn't sure it was one of ours cos ours are ginger and this one was brown... turned out to to be our Mildred, absolutely covered in mud and hungry!! she'd broken down one of the extra barriers, and flopped over the top of the fence. so a quick run round to catch her and persuade her back in, without Maud coming out through the gate.
then more extra pallets had to be carried up the garden to make even more reinforced fencing round the pig run.
fed the pigs again,
fed the dog
so tired but not a bad day by our standards!
all the best to you all for a good day tomorrow and beyond....

How exciting - fingers crossed for Geraldine. Justine says a big thank you for the photos by the way.
