Title: New starter after twenty years away
Post by: Carlk on November 09, 2016, 06:38:40 pm
Hi, I have just got five Jacob ewes and one Zwartbles ram, they have been together for seven days, hoping for lambs in spring ... My question is ... Is there a calendar of actions for keeping sheep healthy. I know what I used to do but ....?

I think there is a guide in Tim Tyne's book but baby is sleeping and the bookshelf is far away. Sorry that's probably not much help.

Good luck though from a fellow newbie (first year of keeping sheep)

Yes there is, Tim Tynes Sheep for Smallholders. My baby is 23 no idea if he is sleeping!  Tim's book will get you current with everything along with a chat with your Vet or nearest Shepherds on any additional  local dosing routines (fluke, blue tongue, mineral bolus etc).

Have a look at www.flockcalendar.com (http://www.flockcalendar.com). You have to register, but then if you put in a tupping or a lambing date for your flock, it will give you indicative dates for the major tasks. You can then edit / add / move them around as you wish, and can print off a task list for the year.
