Hi, there are a few smallholders from the Borders on here. We stay near St Boswells and love it! Whereabouts?

Welcome anyway! Any animals?

We have most farm animals - except horses (I don't ride and no money...) and no cattle (too big for us, but farmer might put some into my field soon to keep the grass down, sheep can't manage it...)

We have sheep (Shetlands and crosses), goats (GG's and BT, and  a GGx AN), poultry (meat and eggs), raise weaners (Saddlebacks this year), veg garden, p/tunnel and bees (oh and 2 children and 1 mad dog)

I am going to a running group in Earlston every Wed night, nice area for runs out of town.

Hello yes i remember you, do you still go on NR, i have since moved now and trying to get back into horses, just met  a lady Bowes Lyons she is related to the queen, said i can go ride her horses anytime i want, so i will ring her and arrange to go, but i would rather go and work with someone to get my confidence up, i cant just jump on a horse and go riding, as my confidence is shattered to bits.
Nice to see you here.

Welcome Chris, hope you adapt to your new lifestyle, I grew up, and raised our family in the middle of nowhere and wouldn't have changed it for the world!

Thanks Rhodie, we live on a farm so theres loads of land, sheep, cattle, and i have a huge back garden, going to put chickens in there, but they will have to be kept in a run as the sheepdogs next door will get them if i let them roam about the garden.

Nice to see you here.

No I'm not on NR anymore. They introduced subscription and I let it lapse. I did try to rejoin but can't seem to get past the registration. I'm on Horse and Hound now and again.

Nice to see you too. :) Do you still have your soap business?

After having said that cattle is too big for us.... well farmer moved 15 heifers into the field a day after I asked him if he wanted to... so quite keen then. And boy do they drink as lot of water... I am forever filling up their tank (with a garden hose)... but they do look gorgeous! (and are a lot more quiet than the ewes and goats!)

Heifers are young female cows before they have calved (not sure what the exact age is when cows go to the bull...)
