Hi we charge about £2.50 delivered locally. The bales are quite light but it is very clean meadow hay with no ragwort. This is for info only, I'm not touting as we basically have all the customers we need.

When we buy in we pay £2 a bale for top quality - we collect it ourselves.

Crumbs that's cheep ...... never worth making your own if you can buy it for that. Ours costs about  £3.75 to £4.00... is excellent hay brought to Wales from Wiltshire.

[member=26580]Backinwellies[/member] I'd be interested in a contact number for where you get yours from.

There are huge benefits from getting hay that is made in a different part of the country - most of the grass in wales is really lacking in a number of essential minerals. :)

I've had two prices so far this year, 3 bales for £10 from one farm, and £5 a bale from another (though those bales were slightly longer), both prices were for collection from the farm.

£3 a bale is standard up here, but if I sell any of mine I'll be asking £2, I think, because they're a fair bit lighter than the ones I was buying in the past.

Do you have any figures to back it up as I'd be interested to see them.

worth seeing the test results before rushing out.  We had ours tested last year and came back exceptionally good.  We make big organic bales all harvested by contractor.

I think it's worth getting hay from ancient meadows if you can - lots of deep-rooted herbs and wild flowers which surely must have greater nutritional value than high-sugar Italian rye grass leys.  Only time I've regretted doing so was taking hay from a neighbour with lots of knapweed in the field - it shattered when dry and much of it ended up as bedding rather than in the sheep.

I have sold my surplus at £3 a bale for the stuff with thistles in and £3.50 that without thistles.  The 4ft round haylage I sold for £18 a bale.  Yorkshire.
