Yesterday we had our first show of the season, Strathbogie Farmer club Horse Show. Its quit a big event with all the usual in-hand and ridden classes. I took my 2 year old colt Westercushnie Northern Light ( due to be gelded this week poor soul ). As we had hunters & hacks on one side and highlands the other he was besided himself and put on quite a display of trying to look bigger and his he man act. He was only shown once as a yearling and that was indoors so having to see all the big horses doing their thing was a new experience for him. I was just delighted when he won the 2/3 year old Shetland class, then went on to win overall Standard Shetland Championship. The weather was wet and cold so doing so well made up for that. ;D

I got a mini too she s a right little doll :) Great companion, very grounding company for youngsters, wouldnt be without her. Do love a good Standard though, theres some fab ones on the MandM circuit, my particular fave being Blackertor Rhonda

Vet arrived this morning so Rory has now been gelded. He was no trouble but Buddy the yearling just would not go down so the vet decided to do him standing. He is a very stubborn but the job is now done. for a yearling he has been a right bully so I hope this helps to put him in his place. Thye should both make nice ridden show ponies once broken in a few years time. My 3 year old colt has been left entire as he is just stunning, lovely kind boy who will stand at stud next year once vetted. :)
