Title: No sheepdog.
Post by: sabrina on October 08, 2016, 07:35:04 pm
Rascal who I have said in the past has collie eye so does not see as well as he should. He has no interest in sheep. For some reason he has taken into his head that its his job to round up Dolly. Every day he tries, she chases him away but as soon as her back is turned off he goes again. He has all the right moves. His outrun down the paddock is first class, will go down as soon as I shout and also leave when i tell him to back off. I just can't get through to him that she is a pony and how much better it would be if he would do the same job with the sheep. what a help that would be. He is very brave considering how big she is and so far she has not kicked him but does let him know when enough is enough.

Perhaps he can see her more easily as she's bigger than a sheep?

It looks like you have a very good cattle dog there [member=467]sabrina[/member]  I am not sure if you have cattle? If you do maybe he could herd cattle instead of sheep. I have found that with some dogs, excellent with cattle but not good with sheep....

No cattle, maybe being bigger she is easy for him to focus on. He would spend all day with her if I let him.
