Thanks Rosemary. A lot of good-sounding talks and practicals planned.
Dan Champion - now he sounds like an interesting chap :innocent:

I went along to the Scottish Smallholder Event for the first time last weekend and found it thoroughly agreeable. I had never seen Ouessant sheep in the flesh so it was good to view the stock and discuss issues with the enthusiastic breeders. Indeed, I found discussions with owners and breeders of Soay, Lincoln Red Poll, Ryedales, Oxford Sandy pigs etc to be extremely informative. The competitions contained a range of stock with some excellent specimens. The talks that I attended were good and the stands, though relatively small in number were of a high standard. It was good to see SAC and various Scottish Govt departments present to impart helpful (and free) advice. If you've not been before and you live in Scotland or north of England then it is worth putting in the calendar for next year when I expect that it will be even bigger and better. A special mention to all the volunteers - from the front gate to the information desk - for their good cheer. Thanks
