Goodness, we have a lot of chicks cheeping round our place now. The light sussex x silkie, who can be relied on every year to go broody, has hatched some this morning. Don't know how many, but definitely three little faces peeping out from under her.
This is the best year so far for broodies, and my hatch rate is good too. Only sat bantam eggs, as no large cockerels among the big hens. And have just seen two of the ex battery hens are broody too, which is unusual for them.
May sit a couple more clutches of eggs today under more broodies. Its just a pain looking for extra places for them to go. Seem to have broodies, and the banties and chicks in every coop and rabbit hutch!!

Lovely, Roxy! What are your plans for the new chicks?
