Title: Sheep maggots and wool...
Post by: bloomer on September 07, 2016, 10:55:33 am
so yesterday was panic stations as one of my lambs went down with strike,

It's all treated now and looking okay,

When I checked though there's are dead maggots now in her wool a few inches from the already large patch I trimmed yesterday...

My question is will these drop away naturally or do I need to shear some more fleece away.

I don't want to shear too much as I dont want her with a cold bum all winter...

Either way is fine, the dead maggots will drop out eventually or if you want to clip more then it will grow back very fast at this time of year

Their dead because the pour on is soaked into the wool and killing the maggots, remove the wool and remove the chemicals doing the work!
So leave it on, best thing you can do!
