Title: New in Cornwall
Post by: Part time dabbler on September 05, 2016, 12:57:49 pm
Hi

Although I have already started posting questions I forgot to introduce myself. I have moved to Cornwall near Looe and bought a property with 2.5 acres. We have about 50 fruit trees, apples, plumbs, gages, damsons etc as well as a fair number of non fruit trees, all the ground is grass otherwise.

I am only at home weekends but my wife is there full time. Therefore this will be a slow burn. Dealing with the fruit we have already and then gradually over time introducing vegtables and chickens. As soon as I am there full time I will be able to accellerate the process.

Thank you all.

Is anyone located near Looe?

As to just starting out, it feels a bit odd as I am having to rein myself in and not make too many plans as the garden is relatively mature and it would appear not to high maintenance which is fine for the next couple of years while I continue to work in London during the week.

However .... I am picking up a second hand greenhouse this weekend. I have a bee keeper coming Sunday to see if he will have a couple of hives on my land in return for honey, I have started to clear the old pond and I have to deal with the windfall apples :)

After-thought Sudanpan:  ref "low maintenance" - great, but don't forget/neglect the fruit trees!
