Where's a good place to source  plum trees from and when is the best time to get them got given  3 apple trees now  looking for 1 plum it has to be a Mirabella plum or something it's for my mum who lost both her parents in the last 7 months.  And it was my grandad favourite plum by all accounts.  Cheers in advance matty

I got a Mirabelle plum mail order from Adams Apples last Autumn. Got lots of good stuff on there and good prices and offers. Came highly recommended by this site. I shall certainly use them again.

We have Mirabelles in our hedgerows.  Buying them from a hedging specialist is amazingly cheaper than buying them from a fruit tree supplier.  My Dad bought 50 maidens and gave me half, for peanuts.  They grow very rapidly to quite a large tree, and the fruit are tiny - more stone than fruit, but they are beautiful when they carry ripe fruit, which makes excellent jam.
