Title: Help needed to fix well/spring pump Nr Cardigan, Wales

Husband has been fixing a leaking water pipe on our land which had been crushed. the pipe did not go anywhere but had been crushed just before the cut off valve. he switched off the pump then moved the cut off valve / cap above the damage to the pipe. when he switched the pump back on the pump had stopped working. He believes that there is an airlock in the system or in the pump itself? Any other ideas or any suggestions about what the problem could possibly be. He has checked the fuse board and this has not tripped but he has no idea how to get the pump working again. any suggestions or can you recommend anyone in the area to have a look at it?

The pump may need to start without pressure.  Is the header supply gravity fed?  If so turn it off, but not for long as the pump will relie on it for 'lubrication.'

Or it could be the other way round - you may need to prime the pump and push the air out as you say 'an air lock'

If the pump was turned off before it cycled off - it could be pressure in the system before the relief vavle kicked in.
