I'm in need of a wee bit help in aging my Croad.
I bought her as a 16 week pullet, but as you can see from the pics, her comb is all but non-existant & this has got me wondering.

I've had a wee look at the couple of Croad websites & she def looks around 11-12 weeks rather than the 16 quoted.
Does anyone have any experience of this lovely wee pullet ?

No idea, but she is lovely, isn't she?
-
no idea either.
but she's a stunner. I love that blue-black colour

Aye, she's a wee cracker right enough
She'll sit in your hand all day to be petted & have a conversation with you
My neighbours think i'm losing the plot

Funny you should say that ....................................................... ;) ;D ;D ;D

Ok,
I've been in touch with one of the breeders & she says she's about 16 weeks.
The Croads are a wee bit slower to mature than other breeds, hense the lack of comb. She also mentioned that they don't really come into lay until they're almost 26 weeks.
The Croads are classed as critical on the endangered list

I was thinking about having a few more hens. Where do you get these from, Dave. I'd probably go for either an endangered species or endangered hens(ex batts)

I found her on Poultry-ads.
There's someone advertising there from Falkirk, which is a bit closer for you than a trip north.
I've also found someone selling Croad hatching eggs on ebay for those who want some
