Title: problem hen
Post by: shrekfeet on May 13, 2010, 01:54:12 pm
went to let hens out this morning, found one of the young poulets face down on the floor. Can't seem to move her legs which are stretched out behind her. Seems bright enough in herself. When I picked her up myu daughter said some eggy type stuff came out of her vent. I think she is point of lay.

Any ideas?

Strangely her 'sister' had a similar paraliysis type thing and I nearly pulled her neck. She went on to lay a tiny egg later the same day and since then has been fine
Any help please

if she can't walk then you know what to do. but if her sister did the same i would guess you need to look at the parentage of your next lot. not something you want passed on.

strange thing is that one the sister laid her egg she was fine - and has been ever since.

Will give her until the morning then pull her neck
