I know it has to be done - but just done my first two and that was horrid - those wee lads that I've loved and they love me - I don't think they're ever doing to forgive me :'( :'( :'( :'(
-
They will soon forget, they are terrible things and have caused some of my goats terrible pain. I no longer tag as they are pets and not moved about.
-
I have the tag for this years kids to hand. Little Barnie the pygmy is no bigger than a cat - the sheep tags they have sent are massive. There is no way I am putting a tag twice as big as his ear, in. If anyone comes, I will produce the tag and the goat, but not together :D
-
I can still hear the screaming from my 2 Toggenburg boys as the vet had to remove their infected ear tags last year - NEVER again!

I would if the boys weren't going to the new home on Saturday and didn't want to leave it till the last minute. One of my wethers had his ear ripped in half so I can see the damage they do. I used http://www.quicktag.co.uk/tag.aspx?productid=83 as they seemed to be the smallest and thinest spike and my plan was to cut them so they would swivel indepantanly no be a loop but that will have to wait till they calm down.
Here's a pic so you can see how bug they are on the kids (3 months old)

Two of the Franks - the ex petting farm boys - have pulled their tags out at their last home. Got great big V's now where their ears ripped.
