You would not believe it but I cant buy any sheep or lambs anywhere near me!!!
I have phoned every sheep farm in the area and none for sale.
Are sheep rare now?
-
Not too sure where you are but the markets are selling sheep. The problem is if you came to me wanting to buy some, what would I sell you? The ewes can't go as they are feeding the lambs, the lambs can't go as they are being fed still by their mums and if I sell you the lot, I've lost my breeding stock / not had chance to see which lambs are looking good to keep.
I think your timings just a bit off - I do it all the time.
-
Theres a lady who has sheep for sale on Saddlesoap, dont know the ages though :( She s in kent :)
-
I'm selling some but I am way down south.
-
depends on what you are after, in lamb ewes will be pretty much finished, store sheep will be pretty much finished no one sells orphan lambs through the marts nowadays, ewes with lambs at foot are hellish expensive.. around £200 for gimmers with twins. if you are keen try your local agricultural mart

They are still selling orphans down here - bottle lambs are going for anything up to £40 at sedgemoor market on the saturday sales!
