Are Jay's as bad as crows?
Yesterday I could hear a racket from the first trees, on the floor were 2 half eaten fledglings -Jay's? , wings feathering but bodies still downy, then saw a live one but bloody head, clapped my hands and 2 crows flew of from the tree, another chicken landed on the floor nearby, managed to scuttle into grass. Crows must have been throwing them from the nest and coming down to kill them.
So, I put chicks in a box for a while, then balanced them on a branch, they were still there this morning, parent was about so presume they were feeding.
Did I do right or are Jay's as bad as crows for taking eggs and other Chicks?

Jays eat acorns, seeds and insects i believe

Jays apparently take birds/fledglings in the spring in the same way that crows do ...... watched them do it on 'Springwatch'!

Oh well, it's nature.

Problem resolved I think, heard more screeching and babies gone, they were on a strong twig next to the trunk about 5ft up,
