For sale 1 heifer with heifer calf at foot, 1 cow, possibly in calf will be PD'd this week and if in calf will be to Top italian milking bull via AI. 3 heifers all good temperaments and are halter trained apart from the cow and calf. Would make an ideal suckler herd, as the yields are not high enough. The cow is one of our lesser yielders giving between 500-800 litres in a lactation, very good mother, suckler and milker though. Also the option of a young bull out of top Italian milking bull and very good milking genetics on mothers side, weaned. All have been TB tested and need to be moved before the 30th of June, ideally before the third week in June, if moved after the third week in june the calf will need TB testing. Just an update. If they're not sold and moved before the 30th I am going to be sending them to slaughter. :)

Who buys it, and what sort of price do you get compared to beef?

When we sold it a few years ago it was in huge demmand, I know a few people who kill buffalo and sell the meat and although it is a bit dearer than cows meat is far more superior and has more health benefits. It is low in cholesterol and if you tell people that it makes them really want to buy it, so high in vitamins and low in cholesterol. There is still a big demmand for it. It is a few pounds dearer than normal beef. Here is a price list for example

Though prices like £25 for one sirloin steak would seem to appeal to a somewhat limited market. :thinking:
I am presuming, however, that you would have to market the meat yourself and that you would be lucky to get a buyer in a normal fatstock market?

Yea exactly right. We do have a buyer who buys our bull calves from us but we gradually want to start fattening them up ourselves and selling the meat. You tend to get more from the finished animal than as a store or fat.
