Having been virtually cleared out by the local fox, now looking to re-stock. Have contacted local breeders & visited (dispiriting) Lanark auction, so please let me know if anyone has any current stock or knows of a breeder. Thanks
(May also be interested in hybrid crosses producing distinctly coloured eggs - had unsuccessful batch of ''Higgeldy Harriet' hatching eggs a few years ago.)

I've just chased Mike Black about legbar pullets but he's nothing ready til later in the season so I left a message to say if he has day olds I could pop them under one of my 4 current broodies and give them something useful to do! No news yet.
He may be worth a try in a couple of months if you haven't found any by then.

Have you tried preloved at all, they may have some also try this..... http://www.lowcostliving.co.uk/chickens/poultry-chicken-supplier-Lanarkshire.php (http://www.lowcostliving.co.uk/chickens/poultry-chicken-supplier-Lanarkshire.php)
I hope it helps and am sorry to hear about the fox killing them all, did you kill the fox?

Thanks, both. Fox is as large as my Labradors (but with shorter legs, obvs!) & is uber brave, attacking in daylight in amongst our sheep! He has decimated other larger local flocks so at least don't feel victimised... Also, he appears to kill to eat, which is not quite so galling.

it sounds like the local fox hunt is in order, or someone with a good gun accuracy. I hope the link helps and that you find some soon, I would suggest a high powered electric fence around them or a secure run. :)
