Just wondering, what sort of carcase weights people get for the following breeds;
Hoggets / Mutton:
Hebridean
Soay
Castlemilk moorit
Shetland
I have a few of the above and so far nhave only sent in for myself Hebrideans, aiming at 42kg live to get 19-20kg back .

We had five Hebridean hoggets away in October 2015 with carcass weights back at 18.6, 20.1, 21.4, 22.7, 24.3 kg ( sorry didn't weigh them before they left).
Obviously less weight than commercials and longer to get there but the quality of the meat speaks for it's self and you just have to find the right customers for the price you need. We definately had one smaller one which (we had picked out for ourselves deliberately) the rest went to customers
Hope that helps we find the end of the summer into Autumn produces the best finish whilst the grass is good!
