Title: changing milking time
Post by: clydesdaleclopper on April 11, 2016, 10:32:19 pm
I'm planning to change my once a day milking from evening to morning (7.30 pm to 9.30 am). I know I need to gradually bring it forward but how slowly do I need to do this?

I think I would just milk as usual in the evening and then milk the following morning. Would give it a bit more time in anticipation of goaty stubbornness at the change in regime. Avoids them getting over full but then just go with that. If huge resistance then maybe an evening milk if I really couldn't milk them out but mine are fairly tolerant of my foibles when it comes to timing. Treats ARE EVERYTHING!

Same, I would try milking the morning immediately after an evening milking.
Our goats are just told what's happening as I can't guarantee the same time every day with my on call schedule!
