Title: Power lines preventing development
Post by: Gregoz on April 08, 2016, 06:16:25 am
Hi,

We have power lines running right through the middle of our small croft. The plan was to erect an agricultural building but the ruling is that no building can be erected within 9m of the power lines!!
SSE have said it will cost double figure thousands to move them!
Anyone with any similar experience or advice/help, please!

I had to divert power lines . The first quote I was given was £12000, but we put the new lines underground and dug the trenches ourselves and got it reduced to £8000.

Thanks for that. Did it take long and what was the process?

Got it touch with SSE in Perth, someone came to site, negotiated price , they showed us where to dig trench, they installed cables.

All happened reasonably quick.

I had a similar experience with sse. Very quick very efficient, bit pricey though.

Don't even mention Scottish water though, a very different experience............,!
