Could anyone give me a list of all the sheep sales in England/Wales/Scotland for this year please?
Thanks
-
Yep I'll just go and spend 5/6 hours collating all the info for you! Or not.

Look in the Farmers Guardian for sales on the west and NW side of the UK. The NSA will have its special sales listed on its website. Rare Breed sales will be listed on the rbst website.

thanks for that [member=27063]Marches Farmer[/member] I really appreciate it :)

There will literally be thousands, is there something specific you are looking for?
-
yes, rare breed sales and pure breed sales. I was wondering if there where any in spring/early summer?
-
I'd guess there is no comprehensive list. If you're interested in a particulr breed, the breed society shoudl be able to advise.

York Auction Mart has its spring rare breeds sale coming up somewhere around April 20th (check)

Any particular rare breed?
Welshpool and Llandovery have autumn native breed sale, or private sales, preloved, farmers ads.
-
Most breeds have autumn sales for those wishing to buy rams and some hold in lamb sales around November. Breed society websites are the way to go.

Cirencester livestock market www.voycepullin.co.uk (http://www.voycepullin.co.uk) hold a good rarebreed and native sale in August (I think) always a good selection of all types of stock and breeds.

Any particular pure breed? A lot of pedigree sales will be around autumn time. One of the biggest sheep sales in the country is held at Hawes Auction Mart, where around 30,000 Mule Gimmer Lambs are sold over 2 days.
-
no not really any particular breed, it doesn't matter really. I find that going to sheep sales/auctions is a good way of looking at how other breeders breed their animals, also a good excuse from getting away from the farm for a day ;D

I collated this information for the Castlemilk Moorit website... hope it helps
