Title: Big flock started lambing; early too!
Post by: waterbuffalofarmer on April 03, 2016, 11:19:06 pm
The big flock started to lamb today 1 prolapsed ewe which I had to fix and stitch, making sure she could pee fine which she could, just going to keep an eye on her its her first lambing. If she is in difficulty tomoz then it will be vet. Had 2 sheep lamb, 1 had given a really small lamb, looks like it was 1 of 3 but I can't be too sure as it was the only one with its mum, the other was a ewe lamb from last year, they both gave ewe lambs themselves. I brought them into the building as the weather was bad, but when I brought them in they rejected their lambs and wouldn't take them back, they didn't have a lot of milk anyway, I think it will be cull for them two. I am having to bottle rear the lambs with colostrum which I have plenty of in the freezer, thankfully! They have taken fine to the bottle and are due for another feed at 12.00am and then another at 4.00am. Looks like long days/nights ahead, but I love it. I'm not putting them back on their mums, as their mums are not very good and don't have tons of milk, they will be better on the bottle so i can keep an eye on them. Anyway pics soon to come, I must admit lambing was early this year!
