Hi
Today we have had our first lamb born and I would like to find out where I get the numbers from for the ear tags.
Any advice on new born Rams would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a flock number? If not, you'll have to apply for one (that's the UK0XXXXXX bit).
The other number is the animal's sequential number. That gets allocated automatically when you order tags, so yours will start from 00001 and go up. Usually you'll have to buy a strip of at least ten tags, but of course you can keep unused ones for next year.
Does that make sense ok?

I will have to check my paper work but when I bought the sheep they had a flock number and a id number but I have not changed them they are as arrived.
If I understand things correctly my new lambs will have a new a different flock number (my number ) and each individual animal I'd .

Which is exactly correct - the number they get from the holding they were born on stays with them for life.
