Anyone else seem to be getting more ram lambs to ewe lambs this season or is it just my turn!! It's working out at a ratio of 10 rams to 6 ewes so far.
-
I'm the other way this year, 24/36 ewe lambs. Last year was half and half
-
On my third year of half and half .... but last year the first third born were boys this year first 8 lambed girls .... all evened out by the end.
Oh and following last years thread on Old rams producing boys and younger ones girls (which was correct last year) has been totally blown by our ram lamb fathering all boys!
-
Mmmmm I managed to lose my list night before last :innocent: sooo We know many have lambed, all numbered up bar the last 24 hours, but I can't give a ratio yet :innocent:
-
Only had 4 sets of twins so far and all but one set have been one of each. The last ones were two gimmers though.
-
Out of one of my tups I've only had 1 ewe lamb!!!!! Grrrrrrr
Loads of ram lambs this year
-
14 ram to 9 ewe lambs here.
-
year before last: 1 ram / 6 ewe; last year: 2 ram / 9 ewe; Bit early to say this year as only three of my ten ewes have lambed so far but it's running at 3 / 3 so far...
-
I think it depends entirely on what you want! We were hoping for lots of boys this year so we wouldn't have to worry about the tup with his daughters and we could use the same tup again without splitting the flock. So far 4 girls, one boy!
-
3 rams, 7 ewes here. All 3 rams were singles ???

So right. I wasn't bothered about ewe lambs so much his year, got plenty of nice ones to choose from from last year. So, 2/3 ewe lambs. I did hope for a ewe lamb or two from the black Wensleydale glimmers, though - so both have had a tup lamb. ::). I knew the tup had caught a few of his daughters, so hoped for tup lambs there, to make it easier to keep track - all ewe lambs bar one!
On the plus side, I've got four really good single ewe lambs from four ewes with particularly interesting fleeces, so I'm delighted about them.
-
I normally have more ewe lambs but this year I'd say over 80% are rams!
-
If I remember rightly when penning up there's been a lot of mixed doubles :roflanim:
-
2 to 1 gimmers to wethers so far now. I'm pleased as I want to build up my flock.
-
14 lambs born so far - 10 boys, 4 girls... 5 left to lamb.....
-
100% little ladies for us so far!! :o
-
last year I had 18 ram lambs and 2 ewe lambs. this year it has been 50:50, and the one year I cant keep back any ewe lambs!!

Ouch!!
We started lambing today - 2 sets of twins, 1 ewe, 3 tups - groan. But plenty more to go so I'm not worried :sheep: :sheep: :sheep: :sheep:
Even worse for you Trish.lamb last year.
-
Had a run of gimmers at the start now everything coming out has balls. Far more tups than gimmers
-
18 lambs 18 ewe lambs I keep checking them for nuts but nope all girls ????
-
Amazing!
Balancing out a bit more now - 5:7 wethers to gimmers. All twins bar 2.
-
half way and 9/4 to gimmers :excited:
-
Just finished with triplets which brings things to a neat 50:50.
-
Miscounted ::) 1 more gimmer than wethers.
-
5 gimmers, 1 wether. The freezer is going to be a bit sparse next year!
