Ah well today hasn't been a very good day for me in many ways..... I had 2 people come up for the chickens, one of them had the buff orpington cockerel, but the other one was not willing to buy my faverolles, £10 each with the cockerel free if you buy them all together is reasonable for second layers isn't it? She only wanted to give me £40 for the lot, so i had to tell her that I have other people interested, which is true. I have already reduced them enough I cannot afford to reduce them more, that put me a rotten mnood for starters  Then I decided to roast a piece of lamb which I had bought, when it was cooked it smelt horrible, as of yet I don't know what to do with it! I will complain to Tesco tomorrow where I bought it from, yesterday. To top it all off the calf I struggled to keep alive yesterday, after her difficult birth, is being really fussy. I'm not sure I can take much more. I didn't get to bed till 1 am this morning feeding her, so lack of sleep topped of with a fustrating day isn't much help, plus I have a drs appointment tomorrow whuih I must admit I am afraid of, I am going about a possible broken toe! Sorry for the rant, but I needed to vent it somewhere.

 hang on in there, these days are sent to try us !
Like you say sleep depravation doesnt help
-
At least you didn't get a parking ticket, as I did yesterday, my first one ever :o
-
Yep, lack of sleep makes everything worse - that's why sleep deprivation is a form of torture.
:fc: that the calf guzzles her milk tomorrow, your chooks sell and your foot isn't really broken.

You're going through it WBF . Tomorrow has to be an improvement.

Why on earth are you buying lamb from Tesco?? .... isn't your freezer full of your own lamb (or another smallholder's like us who sell it) ??

If its any consolation Ive had an undiagnosed broken toe since xmas day -after two months of agony I plucked up courage to see the dr and he sent me for an xray. Unfortunately theres not a lot can be done for a broken toe - even if you see to it sooner.
Of course running a smallholding in relentless mud doesn't help matters!!

Nah backinwellies sadly this last year wasnt good for lamb. I have 1 which i kept and cant kill until april, due to the fact I gave him dectomax thinking he was a ewe lamb, as he had gotten in with the ewe lambs and i didnt know he had. I have a ewe to kill at the same time. Things have been so tight money wise that could only afford to keep the one back, as i had to pay the rent by selling the others. I do very rarely buy lamb unless i can afford it, i do mostly kill and eat my own, but last year there was a shortage of them and this ram lamb wasnt up to weight in time so i carried him over to this year. The lamb was a gift from my parents as i wanted to make them a roast dinner. I cant generally afford to buy lamb but this time was 1 exception. I complained to tesco and they want it back so I am taking it back!

Awww am so sorry to hear that. Tell me did it feel stiff and click when you walked? Also did the joint feel bruised and hot?

When it first happened - I stubbed my toes on a door - it didnt really hurt, maybe the adrenalin of cooking xmas dinner carried me through!! I carried on as normal for a few days ie in wellies and thick socks until I was having trouble taking wellies off. I thought this was due to the technicolour bruising that came out. Next I thought I had gout - that can feel hot and gritty but after that went away there was a dull ache all along where my toes meet the rest of the foot. This was stopping me bending my foot which made walking difficult - strangely, wearing steel toecap wellies made things easier. Its now more bearable and I can walk about without much of a limp!!
