Title: Hello from the Scottish Borders
Post by: duncanbury on March 15, 2016, 01:29:25 pm
Hi my name is Duncan my wife and I jane run a smallholding in the Scottish Borders. We have horses, alpacas, dogs cats children and a whole heap of work ahead as we start to transform the landscape and dig for food.

Passionate about good food...we are intending to provide food to the  local pub which has just been bought and is being revitalised ina small village.

Passionate about alternative energy...save your coke cans for a solar heat absorber.

Passionate about life oh and motorbikes!

We are also a distributor for compact tractors but this is the wrong place and time to advertise so I wont.

 Welcome from a relatively new-comer to small-holding.  Am interested in compact tractors - have slightly soft (wet) 4 acres and need to find something suitable for towing a harrow/topper/roller.  A guide to prices would be helpful, also interested to know why you decided not to have sheep.

Oh - I wish you'd said that a few days ago.  Yesterday Mr F had to go all the way down to Blackpool-ish way to collect a hedge trimmer for our Siromer (one of the first imported) because the carrier wasn't interested in coming up here.  He fitted it today and has started to play  :tree: :tree: :tree: :tree: :tree: 8)
Still, we know where you are now - it's an hour or so away but rather closer than Blackpool. Your holding sounds as if you're full of innovation

We still love our little red tractor.
