Here's a warning to you all. Twice this week I've received emails purporting to be from HMRC about my failure to claim a tax refund of several hundred £. All my tax is PAYE and I'm sure I've never given HMRC my email. A check of the .gov website confirms that the authorities will never email you about a tax REBATE. Don't be tempted to click on the link!

I get them fairly regularly for my husbands business, they sound very plausible with correct address (old Preston address), etc, even the email address looked right on this one, but accountant deals with everything, otherwise I may have been caught out.

I was nearly caught out once when the amount was very close to what I expected bill to be!

I've had a few as well and they do look plausible but I wasn't convinced because I'm pretty sure you have to have paid tax to get a rebate. :roflanim:
