Hi
We had 3 normal eggs today, and one without any shell at all. Yesterday we had 4 normal eggs out of 5 hens.
I am pretty certain its an ex-batt as the 2 Coppers lay smaller eggs. There is grit in the cage, but I remember one of you lovely people said that you put the grit in the food as ex-batts don't know what to do with it on its own. Does this sound about right, or could there be another reason for the lack of shell?
Thanks

I think it just sometimes happens. Probably putting grit in their food instead of separately would help if they are not taking it willingly. I don't put much grit down for mine as they are free ranging quite a lot.
