Have recently purchased an old Perthshire farmhouse & there is a Barclay Ross & Hutchison (Perth) old (1940's?) tractor driven corn bruiser in one of the outbuildings. It's in really good nick (for it's age) as the building that houses it is just about the only one that's dry! Has the drive belt still there, I assume it will still do it's job! Have been trying to find some details of this but to no avail. It isn't any use to us so I'd like to sell it otherwise it may end up as a garden relic...has anyone any idea how much it would be worth? Open to offers/bartering...There are two numbers on the casing - No 8 & 1290. ANY info welcomed :thumbsup:

We inhereted a similar machine when we moved here! Never got it to run - there are some plate thingies inside that are rusty but wouldnt take much to repair. I think everyone bruised their own barley/corn in the 'olden days'. We get our corn bruised from the farmer who sells it and he has a similar thing so we havent bothered to do anything with ours. As for price - no idea really. You see them at roups but dont seem to fetch much. Perhaps done up, painted black and gold, someone darn sarth might snap it up for a small fortune!!!

Could do with finding someone darn sarth Scotsdumpy with more brass than sense! Actually looks pretty good anyway, still has original bright blue paint finish. Thanks for the web link pgkevet, will have a look. Does anyone know if this company still trades (Barclay Ross & Hutchison)? Hope you're all surviving this rather damp weather!! Roads round by us (Perthshire) are rivers!! :gloomy: :raining:
