Title: Directory of smallholder groups
Post by: Small Plot Big Ideas on January 19, 2016, 06:22:54 pm
Hi everyone

Just recently I've been trying to get in touch with as many smallholder groups around the UK as possible and, while I have managed to contact many groups direct, I thought this might also be a good way to contact any others that I'm not aware of and perhaps those that haven't responded to my emails.

I'm currently working on an expanded smallholder groups directory section for Home Farmer magazine which will be a quarterly feature based on the list of links to smallholder groups (http://smallplotbigideas.co.uk/reference-information/smallholding-societies/) on my blog. This will provide a brief summary about each group including contact details as well as information on latest news and any upcoming events.

To do this properly I had hoped that each group would be able to confirm the information provided and perhaps even email through to me some details of news/upcoming events that they would like to have included.

It would be really helpful if anyone who is a member of a group or society could check that someone from their group has responded to my request for information? Also, if there are any groups that I have missed then I will be glad to add them if someone can send me the details!

Thanks
Richard

I'm treasurer of Central Scotland Smallholders but to be honest I can't get any response from members to come to anything so I've suggested we fold

Thanks to everyone for the responses... I will be including details for all groups I can find on the web even if there isn't an immediate response. I can always add or change things for subsequent quarterly updates and over time I plan to prune the list so that only active groups are listed anyway.

[member=7689]nimbusllama[/member] Thanks, I've got Derbyshire Smallholders on my list. I emailed the "webmaster" email address at the start of January but I've had no response.   ???

[member=42855]waterbuffalofarmer[/member] Thanks for the tip, I didn't have that one listed but I've added it now.   ;D

[member=26320]doganjo[/member] Thanks, I already have that one listed but I'd noted that website updates were a little old. I imagine what you describe is a common problem for groups but perhaps a bit of publicity may improve things?  :fc:

Thanks to everyone who replied or got in touch with me direct about this. I'm really pleased with the results which can be seen in this months Home Farmer

For those who don't subscribe to the magazine you can view the relevant pages on our North Pennines Smallholder group website (http://www.northpenninessmallholders.co.uk/nps-mentioned-in-home-farmer-this-month/)

I'm always interested to get feedback on this new feature and would welcome suggestions for other groups to include or changes to the information shown.
