Title: Dogs and Oxo
Post by: Penninehillbilly on January 10, 2016, 11:14:00 am
Hi. Overnight one or both dogs managed to get to and eat 11 oxo's,  some were spread over the floor, but i presume most were eaten. Should we be worried?
Unusually, so i presume related, there was also a puddle on the floor,

I don't see why there should be a problem as Oxo is only dried blood with some colourings and spices, as far as I know and is intended for consumption.  The silver paper will just come through and for a while they will have glittery poops.  The puddle was perhaps a sign of guilt?  Or maybe all those cubes gave them a terrible thirst, so they drank more and needed to pee sooner than usual.

It will be interesting to see if I'm wrong, from someone in the know.

Thanks FW,  I'm presuming there is a lot if salt in there, OH used to soak a little bit of Oxo and pour it on their supper till someone said the salt was bad for them. They seem OK for now.
Naughty girls :-).
Never thought about the dried blood side, always presumed it was salt and spices. Obvious now you've said it, that's why there is a vegetarian one  ::)

I would be slightly concerned about the high salt content but just make sure they have plenty of water and let them out regularly. I wouldn't be in a major panic though!
