OH spent this morning making sausage rolls from our own minced pork. We are going over to my sons tomorrow as they are having a family get together and we said we would bring sausage rolls. OH left them cooling on the kitchen worktop. Rascal our border collie made wee trips back and forth to the kitchen helping himself. He managed to eat at least 9 before getting caught but the rest will have to go to the dogs as he is bound to have slobbered. OH is far from pleased !

My springer took a lump of of the Christmas cake so I had to make another one! She is also partial to a sausage roll given half a chance :dog:

We had friends round for dinner one evening a number of years ago. I prepared the starter and put it on the beautifully dressed table in the dining room. We had a coupe of drinks and a good old chinwag then went through to discover that our cat had eaten the prawns off every plate leaving just the salad and dressing. Caught in the act as she was just finishing off the last one when we went through.
Scruff of the neck and out in the snow went Sophie - and Alan and Margaret remained our best friends forever. :-)

We've been having a bit of a spate of meece in the kitchen. The new-fangled trap works well, but there's always the time you think you've got them all, haven't seen any sign for a week or so, get complacent...
I've got them both now, but it took three nights. I was alerted by the magically moving half-banana... And after noticing that, looked carefully at the tin of roast veg to make sure it hadn't got that far... All looked well, then I remembered there was one leftover sausage on that tin, which was destined to augment BH's meal the following evening. (I'm on a diet, so am being inventive to try to only have to cook one meal for both of us, and not have mutiny.) Sure enough, a nibble of sausage had been taken. Well, I just reheated it all very thoroughly... don't tell him, will you!?!

Some time ago at an Aunties Christmas do there was a perfect cat footprint in the cream on a trifle. She just smoothed it over and said "Shh - don't tell anyone." No one was food poisoned and the trifle still tasted good!
