Title: Mistletoe
Post by: kanisha on December 25, 2015, 03:01:25 pm
Have had some mistletoe downed with some trees.  Is it likely the sheep will eat it ?Just read it isn't toxic to sheep can anyone confirm?

I have seen it mentioned as all parts being poisonous.  Can you gather and burn it?

It is listed as both toxic ( all parts) and bizzarely as sheep fodder in earlier times.  I have removed what is accessible but as much  has been shaved off with a chain saw and then spread around its no guarantee.  to date the sheep haven't really bothered with it that much. Hopefully its not going to cause them a problem but would love to know if there is any truth behind it being sheep fodder or indeed toxic.

came across another patch yesterday. Not easily accessible to remove although not that accessible to the sheep either.  Berries have been taken by the birds.  Vet doesn't know....  is there any truth to it being used as sheep fodder?   (http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd278/SperedBreizh/mistletoe.jpg)
