This morning one of my 3 chooks layed a perfect egg as she's done for the past 2/3 weeks. Tonight she turned her nose up at her veggie mash whilst her friends tucked in. Then in a very strange pose, she laid a 'big' soft shell and a small yolk in a shell (no white). She's now very happy and tucking into her night time corn - is she all right? ???

Is she young, your hen with the funny eggs? It's common to have a few oddballs as they come into lay. Even if she is not that young, it may just be a blip. Keep an eye - if she's eating and otherwise well, she should settle and be back to normal soon. :)

Yes she is young and she has only just come into lay and she is otherwise very perky in herself! She hasn't layed today but I'm not surprised if she managed 3 - if somewhat bizarre- yesterday. Thanks for your reply - i'll watch her closely and see if all else ok :)
