Title: Goats chicken feed and all things bloat
Post by: Megsmum on November 27, 2015, 02:16:22 pm
Hi

Thought I would update you on how it was going.

Putting the duck and chook feed in the dog crate worked well.  I have also implemented a schedule in the morning.

The goats have a house which can be locked, but generally the door is semi open day and  night.  First thing in the morning I give the goats a treat on their platform and shut the door for 20 minutes

During that 20 minutes the chooks and ducks have a free for all with the layers and wheat etc.  After 20  minutes remaining food is scattered free range

Goats come out.    They pick at a few bits of feed but its so scattered and buried that they get bored and head for the Alfalfa

I have stopped their grain as they are looking a bit Fat.

It always takes awhile to find systems that work for you in your situation.
I found each time I added a new species or group of animals it took  a week or two to settle into a new routine.
After a few years it starts to fit better as you remember what worked last time, what didn't or someone else gives you a new idea to try.
Enjoy your animals.
