Damned university upstart has refused my consent. :'( :'( But I have a plan! :P >:( >:( >:(
1) write to the local councillors on the committee, one of which was instrumental in having me on a charity Board before I moved, so may feel good towards me.
2) pull in a neighbour support favour (I did it for her so she'd better come up with the goods)
3) The rule he used goes on31st December so can re-apply then
4) consult a friend who is a planning consultant
5) In the meantime I have made a little straw figure, called it PD(his initials) and am presently sticking pins in it ;D ;D ;D

I'll sympathise Annie, but refuse to rant about them (today, at least !) cos I don't want my cheery mood spoiled ;D ;D

Believe me I really do sympathise. They're usually IMHO a bunch of prats with nothing better to do. The word planning has become anathema to me. Keep trying though because it took me 18 months to get the consent then another 3 to get some conditions removed but I did get it in the end. Chin up

anything and everything ....if it isn't for a relative of theirs, or if they aren't getting a free holiday , or if they aren't getting a big fat backhander....

No, he is sticking to a rule that as far as I know only that particular council have in place - Cohesive Groups and 5 year plans. The rule is that in a cohesive mgroup - a hamlet of 5 houses or more - you are only allowed only 20% of the current stock in that 5 year planning period. The current period end 31/12/10. There are 7 houses. My friend got permission for an eco friendly house in the middle of their field. So his reckoning is that was teh 20%, but there was a new law passed in November 2006 which should have been implemeneted by now - except they haven't got round to it yet. So the rule ends on 31/12/10 at teh same time as the 5 year plan. The only problem is that is I wait till 1/1/11 someone else might get in before me!

I'm SO not looking forward to dealing with our new planners. I only hope they are reasonable. ::)

I vote we do the same with panners as we do with livestock thieves!!
remember the bigger the snide brown envelope and its contents the more likelihood of approval!! or you could always just go a head with the building and when the planners come out put them on the oversight and cover liberally with 8 inches of concrete.

Just tell them you are a traveller...build what you like with no regard to any planning regulations

We bought a house from a developer who went on to knock down some listed cottages and then sell the land..the fine was less than the money he got for the land in an upmarket area ;)
