Title: Electric Fence lead out cable
Post by: nimbusllama on November 04, 2015, 10:46:07 pm
I have a distance of about 35 metres from my mains energiser to the short run of about 50 metres of 2 strand electric twisted wire fence I am planning.  I have a 50 metres roll of lead out cable and wanted to know if I can leave the extra 15 metres looped in the hedge to avoid cutting it, or will it reduce the pulse coming through the longer cable? Thanks

It shouldnt make much of a difference especially if its new and undamaged lead out wire,  just dont leave it coiled up too tight as this could possibly create some heat.
Make sure youve got a really good earth too, using two or three earth stakes joined together with earth wire.

Many thanks, that is what I thought, but I will add another earth stake... a good idea which I had not thought of.
