Title: White Leghorn ladies wanted
Post by: Cams Mum on April 13, 2010, 10:52:04 pm
Hi there. We have a White Leghorn Cockeral that we saved from death a while ago. We got him three ladies to keep him company, but wondered if anyone had any White Leghorn ladies as I'd like to try and hatch some. He stands out so much from the rest of our birds, it would be nice to have some matching ladies.
We live near Wisbech in Cambridgeshire  :)

i live in cambs, and got a white leghorn from here ...  http://www.hen-house.co.uk/index.html (http://www.hen-house.co.uk/index.html) not as cheap as some private sellers i've seen and might be a bit far but i struggled to find many places locally that sell birds.  Was a nice set up, clean healthy birds and she's laid an egg virtually every day since, rarely has a day off!

Cambridge poultry (bottisham) had a similar bird called an Amber star i think but it's not exactly a leghorn from what i could gather.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for replying. I'll give them a go. That place in Bottisham popped up when I searched online, I'll have to check that out as well.

:wave:hi just seen your not far from me at all.

you could always cross him with either a utility light sussex, white wynadotte or utility RIR these will all breed great egg producers.

i have some white leghorn chicks in the brooder thats no help to you though.
