I was in town earlier and spotted this sign outside the Jam-Jar bistro (http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/lifestyle/food-drink/gary-ralstons-restaurant-review-jam-3811838).
What a good idea eh?
(I wonder what they'll give me for half a tonne of surplus courgettes!? ;D )

How enterprising! You could try them with a small exchange first David, then get friends to go in with more :innocent:

My local pub does this - an excellent idea!

Womble,
Thanks for the info about Jam Jar.
I phoned to find out more about it. Depending of the amount that was brought in you either got a voucher or a slice of cake.
Went along to the allotment first thing this morning and pulled most of what was left of the beetroot and a couple or four onions and took them along.
Was welcomed enthusiastically, the chef appeared and took the veg back to the kitchen to weight it and Richard, the manager, came back with an offer that bowled me over.
So now have a money off voucher when I was expecting a slice of cake. ;D

Cool!
I suppose it's good business sense for them. Not only do they get some good quality veg, but you will then go for a meal and drinks there that you will of course pay for. As long as it suits both parties though, why not!?
I wonder what they'll do for half a Zwartble? :)
Oh, and whereabouts are you based then Cans?

The beetroot would just have ended up in the composter as I had made all the chutney I was going to this year so basically a voucher for free.
Am based in Doune
