Post by: stephen on June 09, 2008, 09:30:40 am
i rember reading a post about this before but cant find it now!!!

a friend of mine had 2 chickens one passed away last week and while she is on the hunt for another one her existing hen is laying soft shelled eggs! the diet is the same as before and grit is readily available. do you think this could be stress related or caused by something else??  :chook: ;D

I am getting soft eggs from time to time, I have about 58 hens and they a free range so plenty of grit for them. They are all ex bats but other then that they lay good eggs.

stress definatly seems to be a factor.......even a raptor flying over will cause it
