Hello.
Just purchased 10 Beulah sheep to start a new venture.

And hello from Devon.

Hello and welcome. I haven't got experience with sheep, so just had to look up what you have got. Are yours spotty faced or black?
-
:wave:hi
They are the speckled face ones with rather live nag tails.
Got them coming to a bucket so things are going good.

Oh sweet, I am tempted to get sheep next year but need to do some more reading up first, everyone seems to say they are high maintenance
-
Not too much maintenance this is why we went for the Beulahs. They are so used to living on highlands that when they are put on low land they manage very nicely. We are close to marsh lands with grazing rights.
Got to keep up to scratch with things like heptovac vaccinations and things like fly strike in summer.
Secret is to keep them as clean as you can, this is the one thing I really do relish for some strange reason?
Tagging them is a great deal of paper work initially along with CPH numbers in wAles etc.
Keep an up to date sheep log book and you can't go wrong.
I have learnt a great deal from working on a sheep/cattle farm at sixteen but now I have the bonus of my partners cousin who has let sheep for some years. He is so an animal nutritionist which is handy too.
I am looking forward to next year to see if we can have any lambs???
Yet again cousin will be providing a ram.
Winter time we are thinking of getting an open shelter sorted just to give them some protection......I am too soft.
