Title: Sheep prices Newton Abbot smallholders market
Post by: devonlady on October 04, 2015, 08:57:55 am
A buyer's market yesterday and I had to hold my grandson's hand down hard!! Large breed ewes and ewe lambs, Jacobs and Dartmoors went for between £40 and £60, ram lambs between £20 and £30. Some really sweet Hebrideans , ewes and lambs £8, Shetland ewes £8, ram lambs £6 and tiny ewe lambs £6 each!!
A magnificent pedigree Jacob ram £60.
What made me stop and think was the fact that rare breed poultry was fetching between £12 and £20 a piece. I bid on some Silkey pullets but gave up at £15!

I don't even really like that kind of stuff, but at £8, i'd have filled a trailer with the shetlands etc.
