Title: Can we?
Post by: apple and sauce on March 23, 2010, 09:56:52 am
We purchased 2 OSB weaners last year.1 is 51 kg and nearly ready to go.The other we have registered and aim to breed when she is older. We dont want her being left alone. So can we put another weaner in with her or would it cause trouble?

So long as there is plenty of space for the little one to escape from the large one it should be fine .Make sure you keep them well apart at feed times or you'll end up with a tiny pig and a huge pig

That makes sense. There run split into 2 with a large shelter in the middle. So it possible to introduce them to each other through a gate and could feed them in seperate in runs.

If you let them meet through a fence for a day or so they should be ok, but even then the older one will probably make her stand as she's top dog, just leave them to it, they will sort themselves out, but if its cold just make sure you have a temporary shelter as she may not let the little one in the ark at first, ok in a warm summer but not at the moment, straw bales make a good temp ark!
