Hi all,
put our loverley chucks to bed Sat evening - got a phone call early Sun morning to say our chicken coop had been stolen and our chucks were running around in the field out of the run. Some ~"$ers had tipped the poor girls out and left them out at the mercy of the foxs in the early hours. Thankfully they were all present and safe and are now living in the less luxurious old dog kennel.
I hope they come for the bee hives when we get them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What on earth makes them think it's perfectly okay to help themselves to peoples stock or equipment ?!!
We've had so much stuff go missing it's just unbelievable (especially as we're at the end of a track !) to the point where i have padlocked chains on all my stock gates.
You can't trust anyone ! and that's a sad state of affairs.

i have motion sensor lights,you have to break 2 beams so animals dont set it off, motion sensor cctv battery operated £75, i have those road works low steel barriers placed just inside the gate on rubber pads and connected to my electric fence with a gap to the side for me only i know that bit isnt live. if anyone grabs that during the night you would hear it as ive walked into the fence in the dark and it makes you shout. MARK, no offence but youre a dreamer, you put a loads of expensive stuff in a field and are surprised when it gets nicked. and those long dark lanes are the best places to nick from..... with all the birds i have and other stuff £200 isnt a lot to deter thieves,(and foxes). MARK and others, people will take you stuff and always have done. ELECTRICUTE THEM almost.

Glad the chucks were OK - it makes me wonder what makes some people tick (or the lack of ticks) sometimes.
Sure it was a one off, dont let it put you off. Dont let the bastards win!!

Can I join in please trouble is R & D may be cross with me after but it's what I think.Prooven Miscreants (Male) should be saved in as worse conditions as fits no TV etc; until the Match on Saturday.Taken down to the field stripped naked and hung from the crossbar any one fancies a swipe with the birch can have a go.Now I don't think that that would hurt.Not as much as the ridicule of their mates in the crowd pointing and saying nasty things about his naked body.When they let them go the birching would come in to and take effect :wave: :wave:?eh!

I wish they would bring back village stocks. To have everybody jear and throw rotten veg might just teach them to leave well alone. Everybody will know who the thieves are then. The do gooders might have something to say about it though especially if they have never had anything stolen!!
At least your chooks were OK but still does not justify someone snooping around your property never mind stealing something.

my run and coop is now rigged with booby traps, and looks like a prison, all due to strange happenings.

choocks are ex batts, now looking loverly, taking another 20 ex batts on Sunday - lovely tatty looking shed to live in.
Womble - was a small custom made chicken house - nothing special, probably got £30 for it at the car boot following morning.
Harry -how can you say I am a dreamer - a pragamatist at worst - just sharing with the world my frustration at the scum society breeds, no expensive stuff in a field, just a chicken hut, horses and chickens.

no ofence but it is probably the fact that they are exbats that they didnt get taken aswell! i think theft like this is on the rise!! >:( round here people are breaking in to sheds etc to steal animal feed >:(

There's a problem with the theft of purebred poultry round here. That's why I have 2 big dogs!
The police seem clueless and were confused when someone's coop and 5 chickens were stolen (3 purebred and 2 ex-batt) and then a week later 2 chickens were returned (ex-batt). I mentioned to our rural bobby that it was probably to do with the breed and he said "no, they probably just felt guilty". It wasn't 'til I told him that some breeds are worth £50+ per bird that he took it on board. Still, too late now to follow that lead, they'll have been sold at market a long time ago!
He did however warn me that if I have a "Warning, Guard Dogs" sign up and then someone breaks in, gets bitten and then sues me, I'll be liable! He also told me that by taking that sign down and putting up a "Caution, pets running free" (or similar) sign instead, the dogs can do what the hell they like on my land and it serves them right for being on my property. As I've said before, nobody is ever going to just stumble onto my land, there are signs, 6 foot fences etc. etc.

Hello Sam I don't know where I posted it but beware of warning anyone about anything it goes against you in court You cannot say you did not know .You have told the miscreant you know about the hazard So you are open to be sues A bad one is DANGER MUD ON THE ROAD any thing happens untoward its YOUR FAULT you knew and have admitted you knew. ??? ??? :o :farmer:
