one the kids has an abcess which has started to weep, vet checked her on Friday and gave her a shot of pen and strep (abcess hadn't burst at that point) and told me to keep an eye on it. I've got hoof spray on it but should I give her another dose of pen and strep? He gave 0.3ml on Friday ???

Pen strep should really be daily for 3-7 days.
If it has burst, I would also consider poulticing to help draw out the pus and ease the pressure and discomfort.
Hope the wee dude feels better soon!

yes pus is coming out now
will get on with pen & strep and poultice, thanks fsmnutter

Although horses are different a lot of people use baby nappies as poultices if you can't get hold of anythingfor a while but poulticing works well with abcesses they can be secured with vet wrap and a line of insulation tape or something.

babys nappies excellent on horses but far too big for a kid... unmentionable perhaps but a sanitary towel wrapped round with duck tape is fine on a smaller foot.
lay two strips of tape together sticky side up... slap the towel in the middle... grab the goat and slap it on hopefully in the right place , easier said than done!!

brilliant thanks everyone - duct tape and mini sanitary towel it is

and this why I love this forum
pen and strep administered and poultice on, she looks like she has a little silver shoe on (duct tape) and has started to weight bear a little on it.
Thans to everyone
