Title: New Forensics MOOC
Post by: Fleecewife on September 07, 2015, 12:20:52 pm
The latest FutureLearn forensics MOOC (Massive Open Online Course is what I think that stands for) is starting today, running for 6 weeks.  It's run by the world renowned centre in Dundee, and entitled 'Identifying the dead'.  There is a concurrent Val McDermid story which develops as we learn.

It sounds as if this will be a fascinating and well run course for those of you who love mysteries and gruesomeness.

I'm glad you're both here

I have started the first wee bit but took a sneaky preview of what they found on Dundee Law.  I think they've had fun developing this course and I have high hopes of it

I've joined up, passed the first test - wasn't difficult.   But looks interesting - handy when my dogs find bones when out walking I guess  :innocent:

I'm starting tomorrow. Today was my first outing since getting shingles - I had a hospital appointment and then went shopping. The excitement was almost too much and I was exhausted at the end of it. I've also signed up for the Wordsworth one starting this week and a Shakespeare one starting in October.

I worry if I'm walking my dogs in out-of-the-way woodland that they'll find a human corpse.  Haven't done yet  :innocent:

Today I did the full week's worth of the course. It's great and I'm looking forward to the rest. Loved seeing Val McDermid in person. I love her books.

I must admit I've never read any of her books - I'm a bit of a scaredy cat if there's any violence as I have too fertile an imagination - how gory are they?

I don't like them too gory either so you should be safe.

Have you watched the first Hing-oot yet?  I thought it was really well done.  Prof Black comes across as a lovely lady, and gave out so much relevant info

Nearly time for week 2.
