Yes, I heard the first one down here last Sunday. Unfortunately it was during the first act of an open air performance of Twelth Night and it was so loud it rather stole the show! :tree:

They do sing in summer, but during the moult which is normally around end July to August they disappear and skulk in the bushes.  Only coming back out to sing when their breasts are nice and red again.  To me the first one singing after the summer moult is a bitter-sweet yearly sign that winter is now on its way.

Up here folklore says that winters are either very wet ( 2014/15) or very dry and cold like 2013/14 ( and ?? 2015/16 ??). We didn't live here then but Im told by several people that in 2013 the snow drifted up to our bedroom windows  :o  So Im a bit anxious about the impending winter  :fc:

This is still August so it's the moult they are singing about. It is ages 'til winter and if anyone thinks otherwise, keep it to yourself. Please.
